There is no doubt that prohibition causes more problems than it can ever cure. Making criminals out of people who do nothing but excercise freedom of choice will never be the answer to our social problems.
Criminals are those individuals who harm others. Murder, rape, robbery, etc. are crimes and the individuals who commit these crimes against others should be punished.
It is difficult at best, even in the most abstract of thinking, to explain how someone who choses to smoke marijuana instantly fits into the criminal category. Chosing to smoke marijuana doesn't mean chosing to hurt anyone. What justifies making freedom of choice a crime in a nation founded on freedom of choice?
